Career in Real Estate
The Illinois Association of REALTORS® is the leading source for REALTOR® training, continuing education, resources and advocacy in the state.
How do I get started in real estate?
Once you get your real estate sales or brokerage license, you can become a member of the REALTOR® organization—a three-way membership with a local association of REALTORS®, the Illinois Association of REALTORS® (IAR) and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). When you become a member you can use the term REALTOR® in promoting yourself and your business. REALTORS® are distinguished from other licensed real estate salespersons by the strict code of ethics they follow.
- Check out IAR's blog post, “How About a Career in Real Estate,” to understand the various educational options and choices for those embarking on a career in real estate given the license law transition.
